Finding the Perfect Venue

Whether you're getting married, throwing a party or in charge of your company gathering here is what you need to look for when searching for the perfect venue.

• Scope out different locations; consider where you think your guests might prefer and convenience. Make sure you know a rough estimate of attendees, possible dates and a budget when scouting locations and eventually venues.

• Choose venues that align with your vision and make a list of your faves.

• Does the venue have a good reputation? Do your homework and search reviews.

• Schedule site visits and find out what's included and what's extra.

• Discuss logistics; wifi, parking and transportation, food and drinks, capacity, support staff, amenities and any restrictions.

• Insurance, have a conversation with the venue about this.

• Does the atmosphere work? The layout? Consider acoustics and sound.

• Do they have date flexibility and/or do you need to consider alternatives due to weather?

• Who is the point of contact leading up to and on your event date?

• Your gut feeling will let you know when you've found the right space, so listen to it!
